Course Requirements

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 7 plus O-Level English Language and Mathematics.
  • In the absence of O-Level English Language and Mathematics, the student is encouraged to register for NFC Business English and Business Calculations, respectively.
  • Basic knowledge of agriculture or business concepts (recommended but not required).
  • Applicants must have a strong interest in apiculture and a willingness to learn
  • Applicants must be ready to participate in fieldwork and practical exercises

Course Description

The HEXCO NFC in Apiculture is a comprehensive program that equips individuals with the knowledge and skills to excel in beekeeping and honey production. The program covers:

§  Bee biology and behaviour

§  Hive management and equipment

§  Honey production and processing

§  Pollination and bee ecology

§  Bee health and disease management

§  Queen bee breeding and selection

§  Apiculture entrepreneurship and marketing

Course Outcomes

Through this program, participants will learn how to:

§  Manage healthy and productive bee colonies

§  Produce high-quality honey and other bee products

§  Understand and manage pollination and bee ecology

§  Prevent and control diseases in bee colonies

§  Breed and select queen bees for improved productivity

§  Market and sell apiculture products effectively

§  Apply advanced technologies and techniques in apiculture

The program is designed for individuals seeking to start or advance their careers in apiculture, research, or related fields, including beekeepers, agricultural extension officers, researchers, and entrepreneurs. Upon completion, participants will have the skills to improve apiculture productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
